Frequently asked questions
Plain answers about pricing, migration, card handling, dunning, and leaving. If your question isn’t here, email support@refillkit.website — support is async and in writing, and there are no sales calls.
Pricing & billing
What does RefillKit cost?
Free up to 50 active subscriptions, with all features. Paid plans are flat: Starter $19/mo, Growth $49/mo, Pro $149/mo. Annual billing is eleven months for the price of twelve — $209, $539, or $1,639 a year. Every plan has 0% transaction fees and no revenue share.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 14 days on every paid plan. Nothing is charged until the trial ends, and the Free plan needs no trial at all: it is simply free up to 50 active subscriptions.
How am I billed?
Through Shopify. The plan appears on your regular Shopify invoice — no separate card, no separate biller. Uninstalling the app stops the billing through Shopify.
What counts as an active subscription on the Free plan?
A subscription contract that is currently billing or paused — anything that isn’t cancelled or expired. When you pass 50, the app asks you to pick a paid plan; nothing is silently disabled in the meantime.
Migration
Is the migration safe?
It is built to be boring: a row-by-row validation report, then a dry run that shows exactly what would be created, then execution that creates contracts paused. Nothing bills until you activate, and until activation a one-click rollback removes everything the migration created.
Do my customers’ billing dates change?
No. Next billing dates from your export are preserved exactly. A customer billed on the 14th keeps the 14th.
Can I undo a migration?
Yes, up to activation — one click removes the imported contracts, and since they were paused, no charges were made. After activation, email support and we work through it with you.
Do payment methods carry over from Recharge or Bold?
Rows with a usable Stripe vault token migrate silently only if that Stripe account matches the one behind Shopify Payments on your store. All other customers — including most Bold migrations, whose exports typically omit vault tokens — get an automated card-update email with a secure, Shopify-hosted link.
What does migration cost?
Nothing, on every plan. That includes white-glove help over email if you want us to run it with you.
Cards & payments
Does RefillKit ever store card numbers?
Never — not raw, not encrypted, not truncated. Payment methods exist in RefillKit only as Shopify references. When a customer updates a card, they do it on Shopify’s hosted page, and the number goes to Shopify, not to us.
How do customers update an expired card?
Two ways, both self-serve: the card-update email sent by the dunning ladder, or the payment section of the customer portal in their Shopify account. Both open Shopify’s hosted update page.
Can a retry double-charge a customer?
No. The ladder is idempotent — a replayed webhook or a double-fired job cannot produce a second charge for the same renewal.
Dunning
What is the retry schedule?
+1, +3, +5, and +7 days after the failure, fired in your shop’s morning window, with a card-update email at +3. Offsets, window, email timing, and the final action are all configurable — see dunning setup.
What recovery rate do you promise?
None. Recovery depends on why cards fail at your store. RefillKit reports the revenue it actually recovered, per charge, so you can measure instead of trusting a marketing number.
Account, support & data
How do I cancel?
Uninstall the app from your Shopify admin. Billing stops through Shopify. Your subscription contracts live in Shopify, not inside RefillKit, so they are not deleted — but they will need a subscription app to keep billing, so plan the switch before uninstalling.
How do I get support?
Email support@refillkit.website. Support is asynchronous and in writing — no call queues, and an answer you can file and act on. Include your shop domain.
What happens to my data if I leave?
RefillKit implements Shopify’s GDPR webhooks: customer data requests are answered, and redaction requests delete personal data on schedule. Staged migration CSVs are deleted after activation, rollback, or on request. Details in the privacy policy and data processing agreement.
Is RefillKit GDPR-ready?
Yes. The three GDPR webhooks are implemented, PII is redacted on request, and access tokens are encrypted at rest.
